It was a very early start for our visit to Government House in Melbourne. We had to leave Ballarat by 7.30am, so you can imagine the times we had to get up to meet the bus. Geoff did a great job driving the bus in the peak hour traffic. We arrived a little bit early which was good, got our security clearances and off we went. Our Tour Guides, Vivian and Declan were great and gave so much information about Government House. Probably the highlights were the State Drawing Room, the Conservatory, the State Dining Room and the Ballroom. The Kitchen Garden was also extremely interesting.
Our tour took more than an hour and a half, after which we had a very nice lunch at the Middle Park Hotel. Later a cruise along Beaconsfield Pde to see the sea. Then our trip home.
We were all very tired when we got home, but it was a fantastic day.
