Frequently Asked Questions

Probus Club members meet monthly, to enjoy the company of like-minded fellow retirees and listen to interesting guest speakers. Make new friends, learn a new skill, explore new interests and hobbies - there is so much to choose from when you become a member of the Probus Club of Ballarat Gardens.

The Joining Fee is $35.00 and The Annual Membership fee is $50.00, which covers the costs of the monthly meetings and guest speakers, but does not include the cost of excursions, etc. However, those costs are kept at reasonable levels so that all members may participate.

Fill in your details and we will contact you with the information about that Club. If the Club you wish to join is full, you can go on a waiting list for your first Club of choice.

People can join both Probus and Rotary -- and many do. Probus is a major community service of Rotary clubs and all Probus clubs have been sponsored by a Rotary club. Probus is recognised by Rotary International as a worthy community service for Rotary clubs. However, it has little to do with Rotary on a day to day basis.

Stay active with your fellow Club Members and enjoy regular walking groups, cycling, hiking and participation in the sports that your Club enjoy. The Probus Member Benefits Scheme offers exclusive access to great deals and special offers from Probus Partners.

Membership is open to retired and semi-retired professional and business persons, and others with a similar background. There are no upper or lower age limits.

PROfessional and BUSiness
The name “Probus” was suggested by a member who took the first three letters from 'PROfessional and BUSiness'. It had the advantage that it was a Latin word from which 'probity' is derived.

We also must appreciate the efforts of many of our members who are dedicated to planning many pleasant outings with "Fun, Friendship and Fellowship" which as we know is the motto of Probus.
