Last Tuesday, the Ballarat Vintage Brass Band came to play at our monthly meeting. They played songs like Colonel Bogey, Old Man River, and Dark Town Strutters Ball. They also performed Waltzing Matilda, Sentimental Journey, and Moonlight Serenade. Additionally, they played Two Welsh Hymns and Always Look on the Bright Side of Life.
The Music Leader, Jim Dennis entertained us with stories of each of the songs. He was very entertaining. There are now 16 members of the band, and it was established in 1991, nearly 35 years ago. There are about 10 different instruments in the band and the average age of the members is close to 70. In fact, one member of the band is 94 years old.
Jim is very keen for the band to play together as much as possible. If you think you’d like to see the band, please ring Jim on 0418 518 101
