Our thanks to Brandon and his staff at the Showbiz Cinemas at Delacombe. He arranged a special screening for us at a time that suited us, and we had lunch afterwards. This made the organisation of the outing very easy. We had a small number of members who turned up to watch “The Critic”. It turned out it was a private screening, and we had the whole cinema to ourselves. It was a pity that there were so many empty seats.

But the movie was very enjoyable and everybody thought it was very good. It is a story which involved a ruthless theatre critic, who spared no one, a newspaper owner and an actress. I don’t want to give the story away, but the relationship between these three and others in the cast was very convoluted and well hidden till much later in the film. And then we all got it.
Later on, we went to the Wildseed Cafe across the road and enjoyed a lovely lunch. Mary thoroughly enjoyed hers.
