December bowling started with lunch at Midlands Golf Club, which was reasonably well received, although there were a couple of meals that didn’t meet the standard.
Off to bowling at the new bowling venue and see what awaits? They had only been open for eleven days, so were still very disorganised. Staff were doing their best, but needed direction. Being school holidays, music was up, lighting was down, and lanes were busy. A work in progress, I’m guessing?
We had 12 bowlers participating, with some very good scores indeed. Top of the “single gamers” was Karen H. with a very tidy 121, just a single pin clear of Vic S. with 120, and Ann W. third on 106. Carel Y. on 92 and Dennis H. with 79 followed.
We also welcomed a newcomer to the “two gamers”, with Brian C. kicking proceedings off with a spare, and throwing down the challenge. That said, bragging rights went to our most senior bowler, being The Maestro in Bill V., with 169 in the first, and a total of 305. Second was Geoff H. on 267, and Ray C. on 231 claiming third, by a single pin from Robyn H. Remaining bowlers were Robyn on 230, David W., (who admittedly bowled a few frames with his left hand), on 222, Neil S. on 186, and Brian C. on 173, which was a great effort for his first outing with us.
